Exercise and Appetite Regulation

Research suggests that individuals who are overweight and obese, and engage in exercise regimens, may experience a compensatory increase in food intake, which can counteract the expected weight loss. The notion that physical activity can effectively regulate body weight and appetite sensitivity is challenged by studies showing increased food consumption in response to exercise. While some evidence indicates that physically active individuals may have better appetite regulation, it remains unclear whether exercise directly improves appetite sensitivity. The relationship between physical activity and eating habits is complex, as it is uncertain whether individuals exercise because they have better eating habits or if being physically active leads to improved appetite regulation.
