Assassination of Yitzhak Rabin and its Impact on Israeli Society

Yitzhak Rabin's assassination derailed Israel from its path towards normalization with the Palestinians and a two-state solution. His death was perceived as the end of the peace process, leading to political shifts and decades of unrest like the Second Intifada. His successor, who narrowly won the following election, did not have the same influence in continuing the peace process. In hindsight, it is believed that had Rabin survived and run for reelection, it would have been beneficial for Israeli society to have a debate on the peace process, even though he might have lost the election.
