Ambition and drive come from a lack of adjustment and a disparity between where someone is and what they want to do. Wanting to prove oneself to others, whether it's parents, siblings, or doubters, is a powerful motivator. Having a chip on one's shoulder and a burning desire to prove something is an attitude that is valued. The constant awareness of where one is versus where they could be is important. The status quo is not something to be proud of, as it signifies a profound happiness with one's current situation. Instead, there should always be a drive to envision a different future and to constantly reinvent oneself. This attitude is necessary to stay ahead, especially when competing against those who have no existing legacy and start from scratch.
