NOTE

Success is Better Together: Hypnosis and Smoking Cessation

Hypnosis can effectively aid smoking cessation, with one in four or five individuals quitting entirely and others reducing their intake by about 50%. Its success rate is comparable to conventional methods like nicotine patches. The experience of cessation can be surprisingly easy for some, akin to a lever being pulled. Although not everyone responds to hypnosis, any success in helping someone quit smoking, the leading reversible cause of cancer, is beneficial. Hypnotizability influences outcomes—more hypnotizable individuals tend to achieve better results, yet some who are less responsive to hypnosis can still benefit through understanding the concept. It's important to recognize that addiction does not stem solely from the euphoria of the drug; often, the anticipation or 'chase' of the substance is more compelling than the act of using it.
