Any Thoughts On
Taking Children Seriously: A Non-Coercive Educational/Parenting Philosophy
I was raised with the philosophy of taking children seriously, which means not forcing them to do things they don't want to do or preventing them from doing things they enjoy. This approach promotes rationality, rather than authority, in conflicts between parents and children. It recognizes that it's not morally right to force people, including children, to do things against their will. Just as we shouldn't suppress any minority group, we shouldn't suppress children either. This philosophy opposes coercion.
