Revealing our preferences can happen when we strongly react to someone else's opinions. It is important not to be too hard on oneself as choices can usually be reversed or improved upon. Remember that decisions are not permanent and shouldn't be given more importance than necessary. If a decision won't matter in five years, it should not occupy more than five seconds of thought. Sometimes uncertain decisions lead to even better outcomes than anticipated due to the unpredictable nature of the future.
