In the Gibsonian model, perception can be likened to navigation. Every act of perception involves establishing a name which serves as a destination. Our perceptual systems act as navigation tools showing us pathways, tools for movement, obstacles, markers of progress and failure, allies, and foes. Additionally, there are agents of transformation that can alter our aims based on the situation, participating in a hierarchy of what is deemed as good.
