Identifying Abnormal Fluid in the Middle Ear

Patients often reach out to me with concerns, but I always prioritize assessing their good ear first. When examining the tympanic membrane, I may notice clear fluid behind it. To determine whether it's abnormal, color and light reflex are important indicators, though a bright otoscope can still produce a light reflex even with fluid in the middle ear.
