NOTE

The Most Important Thing For Adult Learning

The most important thing for adult learning is to embrace making errors and leverage frustration to drill deeper into the learning process. Walking away from the endeavor can result in rewiring the brain in a negative way. Continuously drilling into a process, even to the point of frustration, and staying with it is crucial for adult learning. It allows for engagement of plasticity mechanisms. Adult learning tends to be slower than childhood learning, but incremental learning can help adults tolerate smaller errors over time and stack them to achieve a lot of plasticity. Small bouts of focused learning for smaller bits of information are essential for adult learning. Trying to learn a lot of information in one learning bout is a mistake. Engaging in incremental learning episodes allows the adult brain to fully engage in plasticity.
