Emotional expressions have significant commonality across cultures, with about 80% of variants being preserved across different countries. Even when considering multi-modal expressions, there are still common dimensions that are shared universally. However, some dimensions of emotional expressions, such as the concept of 'all', have cultural variations, with different languages and cultures labeling corresponding facial expressions differently. Despite this, research has revealed that certain emotional expressions, like pain and crying, demonstrate biological universality, as evidenced by similarities in ancient sculptures and depictions across different cultures and time periods.
