Fluoride in drinking water helps strengthen the teeth, as acknowledged by most dentists. However, excessive fluoride consumption, whether from high fluoride concentrations or prolonged exposure to low levels, has the potential to disrupt thyroid hormone output and metabolism. The recommended safe level of fluoride in drinking water set by the Center for Disease Control is 0.7 milligrams per liter, aimed at preventing tooth decay and promoting good oral health. It is advised to have tap water tested to determine the fluoride level, with websites available to provide such information based on the city of residence.
Welcome to a preview of the 15th Ask Me Anything (AMA) episode, part of Huberman Lab Premium.
Huberman Lab Premium was launched for two main reasons. First, it was launched in order to raise support for the main Huberman Lab podcast — which will continue to come out every Monday at zero-cost. Second, it was launched as a means to raise funds for important scientific research. A significant portion of proceeds from the Huberman Lab Premium subscription will fund human research (not animal models) selected by Dr. Huberman, with a dollar-for-dollar match from the Tiny Foundation.
