NOTE

Smell Training for Regaining Sense of Smell

Smell training involves choosing four familiar smells with positive connections from the past, and consciously smelling them at least two to three times a day. It may take time to see improvement in the sense of smell, and if no change occurs after three months, switching to another set of smells is recommended. This method is more likely to be effective for post-viral smell loss, such as with COVID, rather than for cases of smell loss due to traumatic brain injury. Additionally, it is best to start smell training within the first year of losing the sense of smell for optimal results.
