NOTE

Short term all-animal-based diet leads to increase in pro-inflammatory bacteria

A short term all-animal-based diet, which includes mainly red meat, results in a significant increase in pro-inflammatory bacteria, specifically the bacteria called biofilia wads worthier. This increase in bacteria is commonly associated with inflammatory bowel disease. Additionally, this type of diet leads to a loss of diversity in the gut microbiome and potentially higher numbers of pathogenic bacteria. Going on an all-animal-based diet is similar to fasting, as it temporarily alleviates symptoms by removing the signals that trigger gut disturbances. However, a diet without fiber can lead to the degradation of the protective mucosal layer in the intestines. This can result in the movement of inflammatory particles into the bloodstream over time, which is a long-term concern. Therefore, diets that eliminate fiber, such as low-fodmap and carnivore diets, should only be considered as short-term interventions.
