To differentiate between genuine and false beliefs, as well as to discern the boundaries of gaslighting, a subjective approach inspired by yoga can be helpful. This approach focuses on understanding three components of the mind: manas, which represents the emotional mind; buddhi, the intellect; and ahamkar, the ego. Recognizing the role of these components aids in evaluating beliefs, enabling individuals to identify which negative beliefs may be legitimate and which are influenced by self-gaslighting.
