Stevenson Concession Speech: Truth can win
Stevenson, disappointed after his concession speech, returned to the governor's mansion where a guest tried to cheer him up. But Stevenson sadly remarked that the American people had failed his teachings. He had wanted his campaign to prove that truth can triumph and that honest discussions on complex issues could lead to winning the presidency, instead of relying on short political ads.
