Research shows that having multiple individuals of color in a homogenous interview group changes the perception of their legitimacy. Interviewing a single person of color often results in them being viewed as an outsider or merely fulfilling a diversity requirement. In contrast, when two or more candidates of color are present, both are seen as more credible and are considered more seriously, reducing the stereotype of tokenism.
