Partial Range of Motion and Hypertrophy

Partial range of motion exercises can train muscles at different lengths, which has implications for hypertrophy. When partials are performed at shorter muscle lengths, they lead to worse hypertrophy compared to full range of motion exercises. Previous research favoring full range of motion over partial range of motion may be due to the comparison of short muscle length partials to full range of motion. However, when comparing partial range of motion at longer muscle lengths to full range of motion, more hypertrophy was seen with the partial range of motion. It's important to note that this comparison was based on only three studies at the time of the analysis.
