The Truth About Vegetable Oils and Cholesterol
Consuming vegetable oils does lower cholesterol levels, but this effect is misleading in relation to heart health. While vegetable oils and statins both reduce cholesterol, they fail to address the underlying issues that contribute to heart attacks. In fact, vegetable oils may exacerbate heart problems by oxidizing lipoproteins, specifically oxidizing LDL particles. Non-oxidized LDL cholesterol, regardless of its levels, does not lead to arterial buildup, whereas oxidized LDL, even at low levels, can damage arteries and promote cardiovascular diseases.
