Starting from basic examples like staying alive or accumulating power, ensuring that one's goal remains unchanged and enhancing one's intelligence are essential intermediate goals that support achieving various ultimate goals. These goals are termed as convergent goals because regardless of the final goal, they play a crucial role in its accomplishment, except in cases of pathological goals like suicide.
