A friend noticed how often the speaker used 'need to' and 'have to' when talking about their kids, prompting a conversation about language use. The speaker began intentionally changing their language to 'want to', which helped them feel less torn about their family and work responsibilities. This small shift in language created a new meaning around their choices and allowed them to prioritize better.
