Impact of Generational Changes on Modern Dating

The shift from agricultural to urban living during the industrial revolution led to the breakdown of family networks and intensification of work hours. This shift, combined with World War I, the Great Depression, and World War II, created a traumatized and disconnected generation. The advent of technology, such as the car, transformed dating by enabling easy mobility and casual sex. Baby boomers, raised in a broken family system, struggled with conflicting messages and later divorced, leading to the more hardened generation X and Y. The millennials, raised by the baby boomers, have never seen a functioning family system. Consequently, the current generation, generation Z, is left picking through the rubble of a devastated society for scraps of survival. However, it is noted that men have the potential to come back from devastation when given the incentive and the opportunity to connect with others.
