Mindful eating involves being continuously aware and discerning about food while eating, as opposed to quickly wolfing down food without enjoying it. This mindful approach to eating is not as common in America, where people often sit down and talk about other things while eating. Consequently, many people are not as familiar or fluent in the vocabulary used to talk about food.
