NOTE

The effects of MDMA on brain connectivity in PTSD therapy

People with PTSD often experience discomfort, agitation, and bodily sensations associated with traumatic memories. Functional imaging studies have shown heightened connectivity in the brain networks of individuals with PTSD, particularly between the amygdala and the insula. In studies where individuals with PTSD were given 1.5 mg/kg of MDMA and underwent therapy, the connectivity between the amygdala and insula weakened over time. This weakening of connections directly correlated with the relief of PTSD symptoms.
