Successful negotiation techniques include avoiding yelling and aggression, establishing joint rules, taking frequent breaks to clear your head and have insightful conversations, changing your state (e.g., going for a walk or working out) to bring your best self to the negotiation, pinching the palm of your hand to stay alert and controlled in tough situations, observing the other party's behavior to understand their motives, not reacting to anger to avoid fueling it, suggesting solutions that benefit both parties, such as proposing a truce to diffuse tensions and create a more positive atmosphere, and exercising the power not to react in heated moments, instead stepping back to maintain control and influence the negotiation positively.
