NOTE

The Importance of Muscle Mass and DEXA Scan in Assessing Health

Know your muscle mass! A DEXA scan can help you find out your muscle mass, bone mineral density, and visceral fat. Calculate your Appendicular Lean Mass Index (ALMI) by adding the lean mass of your left leg, right leg, left arm, and right arm, converting to kilograms, and dividing by your height in meters squared. Aim to be at or above the 75th percentile for ALMI. Muscle mass is a great integrator of exercise and strength, and important for metabolic function and lifespan. So, track your muscle mass and strength!
