Your brain has two modes: autopilot, which executes habits, and drive, where you're fully awake and in control of your thoughts. Half of your day is spent on autopilot, which can lead to destructive behavior patterns. However, using the five-second rule, you can interrupt autopilot and awaken your prefrontal cortex to change your behavior. You can't control how you feel, but you can control your thoughts and behavior, so focus on practicing those skills.
