Perfectionism is driven by fear of judgment and is viewed as an anxiety management strategy. Perfectionists set high standards to avoid revealing their inner flaws, fearing shame and embarrassment when they make mistakes. This fear of imperfection leads to intense self-criticism and anxiety when things go wrong.
