Exploring the Compilation of Chinese Poetry Translations
The Silk Dragon II is a comprehensive compilation of Chinese poetry translations that the author has been working on for 50 years. It all started during his undergraduate days at the University of California, Berkeley, where he translated ancient Chinese poetry character by character. The first compilation, Silk Dragon I, was completed in 2001 but felt incomplete as it did not include contemporary Chinese poets. Silk Dragon II was created to include 18 new translations, covering poems from 400 CE to 2011. This compilation represents a diverse range of Chinese poetry and serves as the author's personal anthology to share beloved poems with American readers.
