Resilience is not a natural trait but a skill that needs deliberate practice through moments of discomfort. We can either wait for a crisis to force resilience upon us or intentionally challenge ourselves to develop it. Cold water swimming serves as a prime example of deliberately putting oneself in uncomfortable situations to enhance resilience levels, proving that practicing resilience requires stepping out of our comfort zone in a safe and friendly manner. Embracing unhappiness as a sign that something is amiss is essential in the journey of building resilience.
