One technique to reset our reference points is negative visualization, where we imagine the loss of the positive aspects in our lives, leading us to appreciate them more. This technique helps stop hedonic adaptation and allows us to savor the good things. By visualizing the potential loss of loved ones, we can instantly feel a deeper appreciation for them. With some effort and attention, we can change our mindset and bring more positivity into our lives.
