NOTE

Zac - challenge of velcity data, stidy approach

Relying on velocity for terminating sets at a specific RER target is challenging due to the lack of maximum intent in gym settings. Studies using velocity at submaximal percentages of 1RM for prediction have generally been inaccurate. However, a study by Thompson and colleagues demonstrated improved prediction accuracy by using jump squats with light loads and normal squats with maximal intent at 80% 1RM. The challenge also lies in rating proximity to failure, as real-life constraints and exercise restraints affect the accuracy of these ratings. Therefore, these factors need to be considered when conducting studies and understanding the limitations of using velocity data for exercise approximation.
