The brain is largely negative, supported by ample evidence. The best way to deactivate negativity is by calling it out. By acknowledging that something might be offensive in advance, the person relaxes and their guard goes down. Calling out negativity ahead of time deactivates it. Neuroscience experiments have shown that simply identifying and acknowledging negative emotions can make them go away.
