Empowerment Requires Ability, Motivation, and Opportunity
Effective management hinges on three critical factors: the ability of employees, their motivation to perform, and the opportunities provided for them to succeed. First, employees must possess the necessary competencies, whether technical skills or people management abilities. Second, motivation is crucial; without it, training alone is insufficient, as unmotivated individuals won't apply what they've learned. Lastly, opportunities must be accessible, including adequate resources and support from HR and learning and development. Overburdening staff can hinder their chances to thrive, and managers must recognize that simply offering training doesn't equate to effective performance if these three areas aren't simultaneously addressed.
