Understanding Radical Candor
Radical candor is the combination of caring personally and challenging directly. When these two elements are missing, it results in different behaviors such as obnoxious aggression or manipulative insincerity. On the other hand, manipulative insincerity occurs when there is a lack of direct challenge after recognizing being aggressive. Ruinous empathy, another behavior, happens when personal care causes hesitation to provide necessary feedback. Radical candor is about a balance between caring personally and challenging directly, avoiding obnoxious aggression, manipulative insincerity, or ruinous empathy.
