NOTE

Pollen Provokes Food Allergies

Adults commonly develop allergies to fish, shellfish, and nuts, but a significant subset experiences mild reactions due to food pollen syndrome, also known as oral allergy syndrome, linked to hay fever. This occurs when individuals with birch pollen allergy find that certain fruits, like peaches and apples, trigger allergic responses due to the structural similarity of proteins in these foods to those in birch pollen. Given that 30-40% of the population suffers from birch pollen allergy, a considerable proportion may face related food sensitivities.
