A technique called positive reframing involves dialing down negative feelings rather than making them disappear. The goal is to honor the patient's negative feelings by allowing them to experience a little bit of the feeling, but not 100%. This technique recognizes the patient's feelings and aims to manage them, rather than dismissing or criticizing the patient for having these feelings.
