The Connection Between Breathing and Body Language
Breathing only into the chest restricts airflow through vocal chords, causing stress and friction leading to voice loss in stressful situations. Abdominal breathing is natural and recommended, observed in singers and professional speakers. Babies also breathe this way, with their bellies moving up and down during sleep. Physiological signals of relaxation and excitement can influence body language, starting from the first interaction. When individuals talk about something they are proud of, taking a small step back can increase the likelihood of them reorienting their body towards you, leading to physiological compliance which paves the way for psychological compliance.
