Acquiring the ability to be fully present in the body allows for a deeper understanding of emotions such as anger. Anger manifests physically through sensations like heat and muscle tension, indicating areas where it is held. By releasing this resistance, anger can transform into a fluid energy that aids in dissolving rigid emotions. Learning from nature, particularly how animals process trauma, shows that moving and expressing this energy is essential for emotional release. Engaging with anger can lead to empowerment, boosting confidence and the ability to assert oneself. Conversely, individuals disconnected from their anger may struggle with anxiety, highlighting the importance of recognizing and processing emotional states effectively.
Author and co-founder of the Enneagram Institute, Russ Hudson, explains how the Enneagram was developed, how it helps us grow personally and with others, the nine interconnected personality types and what it means to be present.
