Quantifying Impact in the Non-Profit World
Measuring the impact of interventions in the non-profit world can be challenging. Unlike for-profit firms, which can measure success based on profit, quantifying the impact of non-profits is difficult. One example is Frieden Reads, where it is hard to determine how many lives are changed by providing books to inmates. It may require randomization and several years to assess the long-term impact. A personal experience in a New York prison highlights the importance of understanding the impact of interventions.
