The scarcity principle asserts that people desire items more when they are perceived as rare or limited in availability. This fear drives individuals to pursue scarce items, motivated by the anxiety of potentially not being able to acquire them. Scarcity increases the desirability of an item, highlighting a fundamental human tendency to value what is less available.
