NOTE

Facing Discomfort When Changing Habits

When trying to change habits such as exercise, meditation, or journaling, discomfort often arises as a tripping point. This discomfort manifests as anxiety, stress, or uncertainty, leading to habitual turning away. The tendency to turn away from discomfort is ingrained since childhood and takes forms like procrastination, avoidance, quitting, complaining, resentfulness, perfectionism, indecision, or overthinking. Recognizing this pattern allows one to pause in the moment of discomfort and slow down, rather than habitually turning away.
