Emotional intelligence competencies are significantly more important than cognitive abilities in predicting outstanding performance across jobs and levels. For top leaders, around 80 to 90% of key competencies fall within the realm of emotional intelligence. While a certain level of IQ is necessary to qualify for positions, it is the emotional and social skills that ultimately enable individuals to emerge as effective leaders.
