NOTE

Understanding Avoidant Attachment and Its Impact

Avoidant attachment stems from a history of caregivers who were either unavailable or dangerous, leaving the individual with the need to self-regulate as they weren't emotionally attended to. The avoidant behavior is a coping mechanism to survive the lack of emotional support, leading to a push-pull dynamic of longing for connection while fearing it. It is not about not caring for connection but a result of learned behavior to disconnect from needs and others for self-preservation. While this does not excuse avoidant behavior in relationships, it emphasizes the deep-rooted internal struggle and the necessity to comprehend the underlying emotional patterns.
