Insights on Cancer Causes and Nuclear Mitochondrial Transfer Experiments
Some cancers have no mutations and some carcinogens like asbestos can cause cancer without mutations. Certain mutations called driver gene mutations were considered the cause of cancer, but newer experiments show that normal cells can have these so-called driver gene mutations without developing cancer. Nuclear mitochondrial transfer experiments have demonstrated that transferring a cancerous nucleus into a normal cell does not cause cancer, despite the presence of the tumor nucleus.
