Don't judge or get upset with yourself for getting lost, as it conditions your brain to perceive coming out of your narrative as a negative experience. Embrace failure and see it as an opportunity to exercise humility. Meditation teaches us how to handle failure and not let it consume us. Be grateful for the moments when you're able to break free from your thoughts and appreciate the gift of consciousness.
