NOTE

Heart Rate Recovery and Exercise Balance

The faster the parasympathetic system is activated after exercise, the quicker the heart rate decreases as it counteracts the sympathetic system. Heart rate recovery reflects the balance between aerobic and anaerobic systems during exercise; more aerobic activity leads to a faster heart rate drop. Higher heart rates are driven by the sympathetic and anaerobic metabolism, while a good heart rate recovery metric for young athletes is 50-60.
