Why Strength Training is Non-Negotiable - Solo Episode

The Dr. Tyna Show

NOTE

Maintain Muscle Mass for Metabolism

As individuals age, the main causes of muscle loss (sarcopenia) are aging, deconditioning, and lack of proper strength training. Most people tend to focus on chronic cardio exercises like running, biking, walking, and yoga, which do not effectively build lean muscle mass. Additionally, inadequate protein intake, poor food choices, and low-quality protein consumption contribute to muscle loss. Elderly individuals often do not consume enough protein. The aging process makes it harder for the stomach to produce enough acid for digestion and absorption of nutrients, leading to atrophy throughout the digestive tract and hindering the absorption of essential nutrients.
