I think it's consistent with reliability and performance to constantly ask yourself, but can it be simpler? We want it to be as simple as possible. And it really is a mark of you deeply understanding the problem when you can get it down to something that seems trivial to the next person who looks at it. I do love that term. It comes from a race car driver who was talking about how drivers with mechanical sympathy who really had a deep understanding of the car were better drivers in some way.
