The Foundation of Relationships: Attachment Theory

Attachment theory emphasizes the critical influence of early attachments, particularly to parents, on relationships throughout one's life. Insecure attachments in early years can significantly impede the ability to form deep and lasting relationships later in life. Researchers discovered that attachment theory applies not only to infant-caregiver relationships but also to adult relationships. Intimate relationship conflicts often stem from a primal desire to be truly seen, known, and supported during desperation, reflecting the fundamental question of secure attachment between individuals.
