Generosity may not always bring happiness, but when done with direct contact where one can feel or see the human impact, it is more effective in bringing happiness. Three key ingredients in turning generosity into happiness are feeling a sense of connection with the individuals or cause being helped, having actual contact or interaction like picking up and hugging Syrian refugees, and experiencing the human impact firsthand.
